Age Verification Policy

At Shanti's Lounge, we are committed to responsible retail practices. As a New York State Licensed hemp retailer, we take our obligation to prevent underage access to hemp-derived CBD products seriously. This policy explains our age verification requirements and procedures.

1. The 21+ Requirement

This requirement applies to all of our hemp-derived CBD products, including tinctures and topicals, whether purchased online or in-store at our Peekskill, NY location. There are no exceptions to this policy.

2. New York State Hemp Law Compliance

Shanti's Lounge operates under a New York State hemp retail license issued by the New York State Office of Cannabis Management. Under New York State law, the sale of hemp-derived cannabinoid products is regulated, and retailers must take appropriate steps to prevent sales to minors.

We maintain a 21+ age requirement — exceeding the minimum requirements in many jurisdictions — because we believe it is the responsible standard for cannabinoid products. Our founder, Navy veteran Chris Williams, built this business on integrity, and that starts with who we sell to.

Our products comply with all applicable regulations:

• All products contain less than 0.3% THC by dry weight, in compliance with the 2018 Farm Bill.
• All products are tested by independent, third-party laboratories with Certificates of Analysis (COAs) available on our Lab Reports page.
• We sell only CBD tinctures and topicals — no smokable hemp products.

3. How We Verify Age

We use multiple verification methods across different touchpoints to ensure compliance:

Online Purchases

• Age Gate: Visitors must confirm they are 21 or older before accessing product pages.
• Checkout Confirmation: Customers must affirm their age during the checkout process by providing their date of birth and/or checking an age confirmation box.
• Third-Party Verification: We may use third-party age verification services to validate the information provided at checkout against public records.

Delivery Verification

• Adult Signature Required: Shipments may require an adult signature (21+) upon delivery.
• ID Check: The delivery carrier may request a valid, government-issued photo ID to confirm the recipient is 21 or older.
• No Eligible Recipient: If no eligible adult is present to receive the package, the carrier will attempt redelivery or hold it for pickup at a local facility.

In-Store Purchases

• All customers will be asked to present a valid, government-issued photo ID before any purchase.
• Accepted forms of ID include: driver's license, state ID, passport, or military ID.
• No purchase will be completed without successful age verification.

4. Consequences of Misrepresentation

Providing false information about your age to purchase products from Shanti's Lounge is a violation of our Terms and Conditions and may violate state and federal law.

If we discover or have reason to believe that a customer has misrepresented their age:

• The order will be immediately cancelled.
• The customer's account will be permanently suspended.
• Any refund will be at our sole discretion.
• We reserve the right to report the incident to the appropriate authorities.
